Last week I showed you the monarch butterfly caterpillar I found and its metamorphosis into a chrysalis. As the chrysalis matured, the gold on it really sparkled.
Thursday night I noticed that the chrysalis started to blacken, which meant the butterfly would hatch very soon. The black is actually the butterfly, which you can see through the chrysalis as it grows transparent.
By Friday, you could clearly see the butterfly’s wings.
This morning it appeared that the butterfly’s arrival was imminent.
It hung from a bush for a while, waiting for its wings to dry.
And here it is, in all its glory.
The excitement of hatching a butterfly never fades!
